The SPACE GASS add-in for Autodesk Revit provides a comprehensive and user-friendly data transfer between SPACE GASS and Autodesk Revit.
It allows for the transfer of structural models initially modelled in Revit to be quickly converted to SPACE GASS, with automated connectivity and library mapping options.
It supports both Physical and Analytical (Structural) models, enabling the ability for all member geometry, walls, floors, loads and boundary conditions developed inside of Revit to be transferred.
Structural engineers can also first develop structural analysis models in SPACE GASS to be imported quickly into Revit for further documentation, while also maintaining the analysis model and loading information.
The add-in now also provides the ability to update both geometrical and parameter information of Revit models already imported or exported from the tool through automated element linking.
The Revit add-in works with both the Commercial and Viewer versions of SPACE GASS.
Revit 2025, 2026, 2027 (64-bit Version). The Revit Viewer (2026 and previous) can also be used for basic export.
System Requirements
The following minimum system and program requirements are necessary:
Before using the tool, it is good for you to understand how both the Physical and Analytical model work inside of Revit and/or their relation to your Revit project. We provide some basic guidance to this in the Physical Model vs Analytical section in this help guide.
All functions are driven from commands within Revit, which will be available once the add-in is installed. Follow the below to install the add-in in Revit:
IMPORTANT: Ensure SPACE GASS has been started at least once before attempting to use the add-in. You do not need a license to complete this initialization setup process.
Manual Installation
If the add-in cannot automatically be added through re-installation, then you can manually copy the add-in file using the following steps:
NOTE: The C:\ProgramData folder may be hidden, so ensure hidden folders are visible.
On successful installation, a SPACE GASS panel will be added to Revit, as shown below providing two commands:
